You Can’t Leave Becomes the Most-Watched Horror/Thriller Movie Trailer of All Time on YouTube

The official trailer for You Can’t Leave has surpassed 81 million views on YouTube, making it the most-watched standalone horror/thriller movie trailer in the platform’s history.

Released by Guilder Cinema Group, the trailer has continued to gain momentum ahead of the film’s theatrical debut in October 2026, reaching an audience normally associated with some of the largest studio releases in the world. The milestone is based solely on views of the film’s individual official trailer upload and does not combine views from additional trailers, teasers, social platforms, international uploads or other promotional material.

That distinction makes this achievement even more notable.

Movie studios frequently report trailer audiences using aggregated figures that combine YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and other platforms, sometimes including multiple versions of the same trailer. You Can’t Leave has crossed the 81 million mark on one official YouTube trailer alone.

The number places the independently produced supernatural thriller not only at the forefront of horror and thriller trailers, but among the highest-viewed individual movie trailers of any genre on the planet.

The response comes as original horror continues to demonstrate its ability to attract massive audiences. Recent films have shown that moviegoers remain eager to discover new concepts, characters and mythology alongside established franchises. You Can’t Leave enters that landscape as an entirely original property rather than a sequel, remake, adaptation or extension of an existing cinematic universe.

For Guilder Cinema Group, the trailer’s reach is especially significant because You Can’t Leave is the company’s inaugural feature.

Founded by producers Robert Paschall Jr. and Austin Taylor, Guilder Cinema Group launched with an emphasis on original filmmaking and theatrical storytelling. The response to the trailer has given the new production company an unusually large audience before its first feature has reached theaters.

Written and directed by Scott Windhauser, You Can’t Leave stars Spencer Boldman, Kristos Andrews and Paola Andino in a supernatural story that begins with the search for a missing young woman and descends into something far more dangerous.

James, played by Boldman, sets out looking for answers after his sister mysteriously disappears. His search draws him and a group of friends, including Andino’s Olivia, deep into an isolated forest. There they encounter an abandoned cabin and quickly discover that leaving may be impossible.

As reality begins to unravel, the group finds itself trapped inside a supernatural prison where shadowy entities pursue them and every attempt at escape pulls them deeper into the mystery.

The trailer offers audiences only fragments of what awaits them, leaning heavily into the film’s atmosphere, isolation and central mystery. A seemingly straightforward search becomes increasingly unsettling as the characters venture farther into the forest, encounter the cabin and realize that something beyond their understanding is controlling what happens around them.

Its central warning has become part of the film’s identity: “Whatever you do, whatever you try, you can’t leave.”

The rapidly growing view count also represents a striking level of awareness for an original horror property prior to release. Unlike established franchises that enter a marketing campaign with decades of audience recognition, You Can’t Leave began without an existing fan base, previous installment or familiar intellectual property behind it.

Instead, the trailer itself has become the audience’s introduction to the world.

The milestone arrives during a strong period for original horror and thriller filmmaking. Audiences have recently turned new concepts into significant theatrical events, reinforcing the genre’s long-standing ability to create breakout films outside traditional franchise systems. Horror remains one of the areas of contemporary filmmaking where an unfamiliar title, compelling premise and effective marketing campaign can rapidly build an audience.

That environment has helped create an opening for films such as You Can’t Leave, but the scale of the trailer’s response stands apart.

More than 81 million views represents tens of millions of individual encounters with a film that has yet to open theatrically. As the number continues to climb, the trailer has moved beyond a conventional promotional campaign and become a significant part of the story surrounding the movie itself.

The film’s ensemble also includes 11-time Daytime Emmy Award winner Kristos Andrews (The Bay, The Raven), Thomas Bauer, Taylor Murphy (Barefoot), Cameron Inman (Mayfair Witches), Joe Nemmers (Snitch) and Don Worley (Barracuda).

Windhauser writes and directs, with Robert Paschall Jr., Austin Taylor and Gopal Bala producing. The film combines supernatural horror, psychological suspense, mystery, survival and action while maintaining its focus on the characters trapped within its central nightmare.

For Guilder Cinema Group, the audience response provides an unexpected benchmark for its first theatrical release. What began as the introduction to a new supernatural horror movie has developed into one of the most widely viewed individual movie trailers currently on YouTube.

And the count is still rising.

With more than 81 million views already recorded ahead of release, You Can’t Leave will enter theaters with an online audience few original horror films have assembled before opening day.

You Can’t Leave arrives in theaters in October 2026 from Guilder Cinema Group.
